Rising Above: A Joyful Journey!

Dear Friends,
As we embark upon our Rising Above: A Joyful Journey campaign, we believe that it is important for our members and friends to have as much information in front of them as possible. This page is our effort in helping you become informed as to exactly what this exciting and important campaign is all about, and we hope you will take the time to carefully look it over. You will find answers to some of the most basic and frequently asked questions about the campaign, as well as the dates of some of the important events that will be taking place during the campaign. We especially encourage you to mark those dates on your calendars. You wont want to miss a thing!

We believe that it is a real privilege to be a part of a growing and vital church community. As such,we are totally committed to making sure that we do everything we can to make the Rising Above: A Joyful Journey a success. We hope you will join us in praying about how God is calling you to participate in this important campaign.

Sincerely,
Brad Reed Executive Director
Tom Getchell-Lacey Pastor

Q: What is our journey?

A: We are being called to take a spiritual journey into deeper levels of joyful generosity as we respond to Gods call. As a consequence to our faithfulness to that call, we will grow spiritually, while at the same time helping our church rise above our current debt. That, in turn, will help our church be more faithful to its mission of helping people discover the joy of knowing and serving Jesus Christ as we move into the future.

Q: Why are we having a capital campaign at this time?

A: When we launched the Building Bridges campaign in 2008, we promised that we would come back with a more comprehensive plan to address our mortgage debt when that campaign was completed. Now that the Bridges campaign is nearing its conclusion, it is time for us to do just that. This campaign will be an opportunity to step out in faith, with much thought and prayer, to reduce our financial debt and rekindle the excitement of stewardship above and beyond our regular gifts and tithes.

Q: How much would we like to raise?

A: Our goal is to raise as much as possible to put us in as positive position to move boldly forward with the work of our church for God. $250,000 is more of a goal as the first step will be in the area of $150,000 to meet mortgage payment only.

Q: What is the title and theme of our campaign?

A: Rising Above: A Joyful Journey. We invite you to join us in rising above our financial debt, thus freeing up precious resources for future ministry. God calls our church to faithfully manage our resources (in other words, to practice good stewardship), and we believe that part of that call is to responsibly handle debt. By significantly reducing our mortgage principal now, we can save the church even more money down the line in interest that we will not have to pay. With Christian generosity, we can continue to be faithful managers of what God has given us by reducing our debt, supporting missions, and preparing for the Phase II expansion of our blessed church.

Q: What commitment will I be asked to make?

A: You will be invited to prayerfully consider the opportunity to give over and above your present commitment to help meet this challenge with the same faith, courage, joy, and generosity that our church family has shown throughout our history. Everyone is encouraged to participate, regardless of their ability to give. In this campaign, as in our previous campaigns, we are asking for equal sacrifice, not equal gifts.
