HOSPITALITY HOSTING
ON SUNDAY MORNING
"Coffee Time"
PURPOSE: Provide a welcoming atmosphere for people to meet and greet one another. "...Somehow clutching a cup of coffee forms a shield against insecurity. Coffee gives some people courage to meet others, face new situations, and sip on something rather than talk." (Ministry Marketing Made Easy by Yvon Prehn)
DUTIES: Set up the hospitality area in the lobby. Prepare and set up coffee/drinks by 8:15 am. (J. Lawler will get the first pots of coffee started for 8:15 am). Snacks should be available after the first service. Remember to reserve some snacks for after the second service. Refresh the coffee/drinks in between the services --additional pots of coffee will need to be brewed. Clean up the hospitality area at the end of the second worship service.
Supplies such as coffee, tea, juice, sugar, creamer, cups, and napkins are purchased and stocked in the kitchen by the Outreach Committee. Snacks are the responsibility of the group hosting.
Here are some helpful tips:
Brew Coffee:
* FIRST, PLUG IN THE COFFEE MAKER. The water in the coffee maker must heat up approx. 10 minutes before brewing the first pot of coffee.
* Recipe is attached to the coffee maker.
* Coffee carafes are labeled Regular & Decaf.
Each carafe holds two pots of brewed coffee.
Start by brewing:
2 pots regular coffee
1 pot decaf coffee
1 pot hot water for tea
(NOTE: AT THE END OF COFFEE TIME, PULL THE COFFEE MAKER CORD OUT OF THE RECEPTICLE SO THE WATER IN THE MAKER DOES NOT HEAT ALL WEEK LONG.)
Snacks:
* Need approx. 3-4 dozen snack items per service. Some snack ideas are: cookies, small muffins, donut holes, cheese/crackers, animal crackers, pretzels.
* Snacks should be foods that are not gooey or crumbly so that clean up is easy for everyone.
